We offend one another in a global culture

There seems to be issues with sensitivity as we become more involved and have more interaction with other cultures. But sometimes we offend other cultures unlike our own when we assume that others want to be like us (Americanization) or we think we understand others because of stereotypes. In additon, do we take advantage of other cultures to help support our own? This blog looks at the question:

http://traveltelegraph.blogspot.com/2008/12/burger-king-offends-global-culture.html

The blog is a travel blog entitle "The Telegraph" and the entry is about a Burger King commercial that offended many people all over world back in December of 2008. It features the reactions of people eating their first hamburger. Burger Kind reps said they wanted a "virgin" palate to show consumers that people who were not used to eating burgers would prefer its Whopper over McDonald's burger.

This shows global culture as many times American companies either exploit others for their own interests or force their own beliefs on others.

Do you think the basis for the commercial was inappropriate?
Do you think Burger King has taken advantages of other cultures?
Do you question the tactics Buger King used to get participants for its advertisement?
