I really enjoyed this section and I thought there were alot of useful tools mentioned in this reading. Some of the ones that really appealed to me were the use of patriotism, backfire, humor and rejection.

The way Heinrichs explained patriotism made it seem like it way a good way to get the audience to commit to your point of view and appeal to their emotional side. Being a big sports fan and watching sports movies I know this is one of the tools coaches and players used to get the team fired up before a game and ready to compete with everything they had. I also really like backfire. I think that if a person addresses their mistakes it make the audience feel like their taking a sense of responsibilty and makes the audience feel kinda bad for them. In the future it also gives the audiencethe feeling they will take all precautions not to make the same mistake. Humor for me really works just because I think if someone is funny and can make other people laugh and feel somewhat good they've already won half the battle in that the audience now likes them. By getting the audience on your side you've made it alot easier and can now use some of the other strategies in accorcance with this one to win the argument. Lastly, I think rejection is a tool I've personally used in the past. Most people are fairly stubborn in their views and aren' prone to change. By aggreeing with their reasons and using it to your advantage you wont have to directly change their opinion but can find a neutral ground and can make them see your point of view.
